Luxembourg is the most underestimated country and capital in Europe. Wonderful scenery, beautiful city, fascinating history, and unique culture – this place has it all.
Our adventure begins late morning at St Pancras International from where we travel by Eurostar to Brussels and on by international train to Luxembourg. After check-in there will be the opportunity to familiarise the locale with an accompanied tram/stroll into town.

Near Luxembourg City runs one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe, the Moselle. So, our “must do” today is a wonderful cruise, with lunch on board included. This ship is truly luxurious and the waiting staff attentive. There is a sun-deck running the length of the vessel so, when not eating, sitting in the fresh air watching vineyards pass is a relaxing delight. Returning to the city we ride the modern trams and funicular before a guided tour, on foot, of the highlights of Luxembourg City (optional, though included).

Totally overlooked in the world of tourism are the beautiful forests, valleys and towns of Luxembourg’s northern province. So, our rail/coach-coordinated tour will discover this beguiling and fascinating region. Vianden and Echternach are absolute musts and we end the day at the interesting Luxembourg Tram and Bus Museum.

On our “Super Scenic Saturday” we head into the Ardennes. Here we will find some truly “different” visits to occupy us fully, starting with a 100 year old tram ride to some caverns once occupied by prehistoric man. Rock formations, wildlife, and nostalgic transport at Grottes de Han before the remote Tramway Touristique de l’Aisne and its “panoramic delight”.

We head west today to one of the very best tourist railway experiences there is. Train 1900, at a place called Fond-de-Gras, is the central highlight with standard and narrow gauge steam, diesel and electric train rides. A subterranean surprise, exceptional scenery, and first class full size steam journeys complete an unforgettable experience.

A comfortable return journey aboard the morning train to Brussels. Incidentally. the rail journey between Luxembourg and Namur is one of the most scenic routes as it passes through the Ardennes region. At Brussels we connect with the Eurostar and arrive back in London mid-afternoon.

Our hotel is situated directly opposite the railway station with trams, buses and trains immediately outside. It is a plush four-star establishment that opened its doors just a year or so ago. Whilst it does have a large and very fine restaurant there are many local eateries very close by. Or, as public transport throughout the country is free there is nothing stopping one from jumping on a tram or bus into the city centre.
