Luxembourg is the most underestimated country and capital in Europe. Wonderful scenery, beautiful city, fascinating history and unique culture – this place has it all.
Our adventure begins late morning at St Pancras International from where we travel by Eurostar to Brussels and on by international train to Luxembourg. After check-in there will be the opportunity to familiarise the locale with an accompanied stroll into town.
Near Luxembourg city runs one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe, the Moselle. So our “must do” today is a wonderful cruise, with lunch on board included. Returning to the city we’ll take you on a guided stroll through the centre to introduce you to this fascinating place.
Totally overlooked in the world of tourism are the beautiful forests, valleys and towns of Luxembourg’s Northern Province. So, our rail/bus-coordinated tour will discover this beguiling and fascinating region. A half-day innovative rail tour of the south will complete an exciting day of trains and touring.
On our “Super Scenic Saturday” we head into the Ardennes. Here we will find some truly “different” visits to occupy us fully, starting with a 100 year old tram ride to some caverns once occupied by prehistoric man. Rock formations, wildlife, and nostalgic transport at Grottes de Han before the Tramway Touristique de l’Aisne and its “panoramic delight”.
We head west today to one of the very best tourist railway experiences there is. Train 1900, at a place called Fond-de-Gras, is the central highlight with narrow gauge steam, diesel and electric train rides. A subterranean surprise, exceptional scenery, and first class full size steam journeys complete our unforgettable experience.
A comfortable return journey aboard the morning train to Brussels. Incidentally. the rail journey between Luxembourg and Namur is one of the most highly scenic routes through the Ardennes region. At Brussels we connect with the Eurostar, arriving back in London mid-afternoon.
Our hotel is situated on the railway station side of the famous Petrusse Gorge within walking distance of the city centre restaurants and the station. It’s a modern establishment and the rooms boast all the facilities one would expect of a four-star.
