Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 - Friday

We meet at Haywards Heath about lunchtime and head to the Bluebell Railway for southern steam action. Lots here to keep us entertained before we move on to the Bentley Miniature Railway and some of the friendliest folk in the land. There are some lovely branch lines in this part of Kent, so we finish the day off with the one to Uckfield.

Meals: Dinner
Day 2 - Saturday

This holiday gets better and better! We start off at the diminutive Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway where there’s time to explore the site and model railway exhibition. Lunchtime is among railwayana at the Elham Valley Line Trust Museum before a Kent “must do”, the awesome Battle of Britain Museum. We then meander our way back to the hotel reflecting on all that was enjoyed in this beautiful county today.

Meals: Breakfast,Dinner
Day 3 - Sunday

A local attraction awaits this morning, The Spa Valley Railway. This lovely line features steam and diesel haulage amid country scenes. It’s now time for something rather special. We have arranged a tour of one of Kent’s most prestigious vineyards. Wine critiquing and lunch to be enjoyed here! We then head south to Hastings to have a zip up and down on the Hastings Cliff Railway. Yet another major railway awaits, the Kent & East Sussex, running between Tenterden and Bodiam (castle views!) - a cracker of a day!

Meals: Breakfast,Dinner
Day 4 - Monday

Now for something different! We are off this morning to North Kent and Chatham Docks. This is an excellent maritime (obviously!) based museum with outstanding presentations spread over an extensive site. You can climb aboard various boats and, even, into a submarine. For our daily dose of steam, we visit the Sittingbourne and Kemsley Railway, the only one in Kent with a mural!

Meals: Breakfast,Dinner
Day 5 - Tuesday

A final day of variety and scenery as we drive to Eastbourne and on to Beachy Head - iconic “down south” - then another branch line, Newhaven to Brighton. Here we visit the surprising Brighton Toy & Model Museum, an absolute treasure trove of nostalgia. Homeward bound journeys commence from Brighton early-afternoon.
